Sue Gilbert Gardens by Design is a business formed around two passions; a love of design and drawing and having two previous generations of professional gardeners in the family.

From a young age inspiration was everywhere; growing up in the grounds of Muncaster Castle, famous for its gardens and award winning Rhododendron collection. Whereas my father and grandfather were respected plants men, for me it is the association of structure and hard landscaping materials with planting that is fascinating.

Now in its second decade, the business still creates within me, a joy of creating new gardens and revitalising old ones. In that time I’ve been able to form good relationships with local suppliers and contractors, enabling me to offer my customers a 'total package solution' to solving their garden design requirements.

Based in the town of Olney, Buckinghamshire, I mostly offer my full garden design service in Bucks, Beds and Northants. I was also lucky enough to design a show garden for BBC Gardener's World Live 2008, the garden winning a silver medal which delighted all involved in our first experience of the challenge of show garden building.

A Modern Japanese Themed Garden

A large garden that wrapped around the house; after an extension the client needed new 'hard' landscaped areas but also had a love of Japanese themed gardens...

A really busy Spring ahead, with some lovely projects in progress; including a wonderful very large garden for a new home.

My own garden enters its second year- see my Facebook page for pictures!

Some very exciting larger design projects underway, including a very contemporary new house and garden with the award winning firm Nicholas Tye Architects; the house building work starts early 2017.

Lots of activity on the Facebook business page- click on the link; the next wave of landscaping taking us into the summer.
